Snowy Last Day of March!

This week we continued our exploration of area using geoboards.

Mathematicians checking their work against each other.  If they ever disagree, they work together to resolve it and come to agreement.

We also used tiles to find areas of different rectangles.

We discovered that shapes can look different and still have the same area.

Check out these different strategies for subtraction.  Notice that students are also trying 2 different strategies to check if their answers are correct.

Book Clubs got together to discuss the endings of the books they have read.

Ever wonder what it looks like when children work on an assessment?  We put up these cool privacy shields and turn their table spots into little private work areas!

During library, students continue to learn how to be safe online.

Prepping our Blog Posts!

This week each student chose which book they will blog about.

We began to plan and write our essays.

We work on writing and editing a section, then enter it into Kidblog.

In reading this we met in or larger 4 person book groups and later in the week we focused on author's craft.

In math we sorted shapes by attributes and later in the week began learning about area.
