What effect will a shorter tube have on the distance the glass marble rolls?

What will happen to the distance the glass marble rolls when we increase the ramp height?

We made a line plot of data to help us analyze results and class trends.

Mr. Marino visited our class to teach us about Lake Stewards and how they are helping to protect the Lake from invasive species-ask your child about it!

Every month we have stopped and recorded some highlights from the month in a special Second Grade Memories Journal.  This month the children really showed their growth as writers-they wrote a ton!

 Quilt Squares-Why is the Lake important?

Retelling chapter books is hard.  Readers need to learn to zero in on the most important details.  We are working together to retell Little Champ while we are reading it.  First, we wrote a basic introduction, like a movie trailer, at the top.  Now we are working on the most important details in the beginning, middle and end.

Two very special events this week.

First, our author visit with Vermont writer Steve Swinburne-he was very inspirational!  

He shared his love of music and showed us how his interest in science and nature inspire him as a writer.

He also got into Spirit Week with a crazy hat at the end!

And of course, Grandfriends Day.

 The kids did an amazing job performing at the assembly.
