Busy First Graders!

Science
We wrapped up our animal unit!

We learned about adaptations that help animals survive

Our UVM students designed a fun lesson to wrap up adaptions!

After learning about camouflage, we made camouflaged moths to hide in the classroom!

Learning from nature!

We kicked off a new writing unit-opinion writing.

More geometry in math

Place Value Memory Game

We used a "whisper phone" to practice reading a passage fluently.
Then they recorded themselves reading it in Seesaw.

We have moved into reading series books with small groups/partners.

We learned about two black woman artists

Howardina Pindell's art styles was based on her love of math using circles and numbers.

Lois Mailou Jones' art work was inspired by her travels and other cultures.
Our UM teachers taught a lesson about her and culture.
The students created collages about Charlotte Culture.

We also learned about Mae Jemison-the first black woman astronaut to travel to space.

Playground fun on a warm day!
