March Updates

As we grow stronger as readers we are learning how to read with increasing independence.

We are also practicing how partners read together.

Readers need to be in charge of their reading.

If you think something’s wrong, you’ve got to STOP! (clap, clap!)

Offspring and parent memory game fun:

Animal guessing game-you can only give clues about traits of the animal:

During Second Step we are learning how strong emotions, like frustration, are felt in our bodies.
We will practice learning to recognize these feelings and how to calm down.

Last week we had a penny celebration as a first grade team.  Each class watched The Princess and the Frog which was chosen to complement our celebration of Black History Month.

We had our school wide morning meeting lead by this year's third grade where the whole school was surprised to have two Champs in attendance!

As a school we met our penny goal and school wide had a relaxing Friday morning with a variety of movies for all students to enjoy in mixed grade groupings.   Each child wrote their name on a piece of paper and we created a paper chain representing all of us.  It is hanging in the front lobby.  They are so excited to walk by and find their names!
