Field trip fun photos!

Shelburne Farms

We split into four groups and rotated through a day of outdoor fun!  Here were the main activities:

1.) Meet a chicken, wash eggs and deliver them to the farm store

2.) Scavenger Hunt on the farm

3.) Hike to the highest point of the farm and look for worms & salamanders on the way

4.) Prep and cook a frittata over an open fire-then of course sample it on bread from the farm

Here is a sampling of photos from our day:

May is here!

During readers workshop we practiced our retelling skills before the break.

After break we kicked off a new unit reading books in a series.
First students "shopped" series.
Our focus in this unit will be on thinking about the books we read-retelling, predicting, inferring.

During our word study work we have been learning to read and write 2 syllable words.
We apply rules we have learned to determine which word is spelled correctly.

We wrapped up our poetry unit!

Children chose a few poems to record into seesaw

Math games!

Practicing writing numbers in a thousands book!

Grade 1 rocked our whole school morning meeting!

Embryology unit-chicken life cycle!

All three classes received donations of fertilized eggs.
We mixed them all up so that each classroom has a few from each.

Thanks to a grant from the PTO we were able to update our supplies which were well over 15 years old.
