How do dominoes help us learn our math facts?
We can see doubles facts-
We practice counting on from the larger number-
We can visually see how if we know our doubles, then we know a double plus or minus one...
if 4 + 4 = 8 and 5 + 5 =10 then 4 + 5 is either 4 + 4 + 1 OR 5 + 5 -1
And they help us learn fact families-
We also play games to practice our addition facts-some we play alone, others with a partner
We kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month by learning where Hispanic Countries are around the world and playing Hispanic Heritage Bingo
We read The Day You Begin and celebrated ways we are unique.
We also read
and made our own dot of feelings
Sentence Dictation
I orally say a sentence, we use blank tiles to "build" it, discuss upper case letters, punctuation, spacing, key spelling patterns and heart words/snap words. Then children write them.
We are also unscrambling sentences!
