Last Post of 2015!

We ended 2015 with a super fun day of Exploratories.  Students were engaged in a variety of different activities with different students and teachers for about 2 hours on Tuesday.  Everyone came back happy!

Thank you for the amazing donations of delicious and nutritious foods for our class party on Monday.  We enjoyed the left overs on Tuesday while we watched the movie Snow Buddies.

We started a new opinion piece.  After reading the book My Dog, My Hero each child chose the dog they think should be awarded the Hero Medal.  We will complete these when school starts back up again. Here are a few..

I hope you all enjoy the rest of the break.

Happy New Year!

Dragons, Number Lines and Trains

The children wrote, revised and edited their opinion pieces about their favorite dragon.
They are writing up a storm!

Examples of introductions

Hard at work revising and editing with a checklist-and some help from writing partners!

Proud authors reading their writing

In math class we used number racks to play a math game that has them solve for a missing addend.  For example: I built 7.  I used 5 on the top row, how many are on the bottom row? (5 + ? = 7)

Building a life size number line

Using it to count

What number is half way between...
0 and 20?
0 and 10?
10 and 20?

Where does your number belong?

What number belongs in the empty box?

Frog Jump Game-ask your child how to play!  They were doing a great job creating story problems to match the number sentences.

A CCS December Tradition-Mr. Bianchi sets up his trains in the library.  So fun!
