Last week in science we focused on how parents care for their offspring.
Then we studied how different animal body parts are designed to help them survive.
This week's focus was on body coverings, camouflage, mimicry and biomimicry.
We searched for moths camouflaged on trees and tree trunks
Then we made our own moths to camouflage around the classroom!
Our Reader's Tool Kit keeps growing!
In math the children made their own "flap cards" depicting a fact family. They also wrote the corresponding addition and subtraction facts. They chose one fact to then write a story problem about.
We used number racks to explore and list different addition facts
Miss Molly and Miss Elizabeth led a lesson on mapping. In small groups the students created maps of our classroom and the playground.
