Hard workers!

We are readers!

In Spanish they are learning weather words.  Here they are being tornadoes!

Four Winds was about animals and the seasons.

In writing we are learning even more ways to be convincing when we write a review or opinion piece.

Here is an example.  Can you find the examples that were taught in this piece?

We recently finished reading this Frankly Frannie book all about writing a restaurant review.

Now we are reading Pr. Popper's Penguins.

2016 is here!

The students got right back into the swing of things this week.  They finished writing about which dog they think should win the "My Hero" award.  It is being compiled into a class book-look how thick it is!
We also made hero medals.

Now the students are going to write reviews about topics of their choice.
Here are their topic lists and examples of "catchy beginnings".  They are writing up a storm!

In math we are using number lines as a tool for adding and subtracting by tens.

During Word Study we are learning what a syllable is, what a closed syllable is and how to count out syllables in words.

I will end this week with some photos of the "collections" that were brought in for sharing this week.
They are all so different!
