Paper Blogging
Before the break, children wrote a paper blog post sharing their opinion about a topic. We used these to learn how to comment. First we read each other's posts and then left them a comment on a sticky note. Ask your child what makes a quality comment.
The next day, bloggers commented back!
We kept the conversation going....
On Friday we wrapped it up! They did a great job and are ready to learn how to blog using Kidblog. More on that next week! We will be working with Heidi Huestis on this next phase.
During Reading Workshop, we are delving into series books. We are reading in pairs, but four children are reading the same series.
To start off we are really focusing on becoming experts on the characters.
The next two days we focused on how the characters are responding to problems and what that teaches us about them.
By Friday we were ready to meet in a 4 person Book Group to share what they are learning about the characters in the series they are reading.
Math this week was all about "growing patterns."
Mathematicians always share their math thinking with a partner.
We also had a free explore of the math shelf
We earned our first Penny Goal-no snow for sledding so instead we had a surprise extra recess!
We earned 184 pennies since the school wide challenge started!
Why stop the random acts of kindnesses...we aren't! We surprised Mrs. LaWare with a note of thanks!
