We started with a collection of beach combing items
First we observed the items and put them in order of our favorite to least favorite.
We then listed reasons why we liked the one item better than the others.
Next we wrote our opinion pieces. Here are a few...
Then we repeated these steps with a collection of dragons.

Learning to find and fix errors in writing:
Math manipulatives, like bundles of tens and ones, help build solid number sense.
When adding two 2-digit numbers, we first add the tens, add the ones, then add the tens & ones together.
Pairs of children we given a bucket of sticks. We combined all our sticks and added them up together by bundling them into 10's, 100's and 1's.
