Publishing our realistic fiction series!

We are compiling our series books into a collection like this:

  

First we had to decide on the order of our books.  

Then we created an opening table of contents and title pages for each book.

Then we had to do some editing work!  

After our mini lesson and some whole class practice, partners got to work adding punctuation to their books.

Of course, illustrations are an important part of books.  We studied the illustrations in these two books to help us make ours stronger.

We also had a Capitalization Party and went through our books making those edits as well.

We are ready to create our covers and about the author pages next week.

We have been lucky to have a sixth grader lend a helping hand every Friday so we wrote her a letter to let her know how grateful we are.

Thanks for coming to Grandfriends Day!

We made chicks with our friends.

Then performed a few songs.

Fourth graders worked on a community service project.  They broke up into small groups and created games and activities.  This group read us Duck for President and followed up with an art activity.  

Another day, second graders came to share their amazing published books with us.  They had read Cinderella stories from around the world.  Each child then chose a version they liked and researched that country.  They created fact books about that country.

At a surprise recess, some eighth graders enjoyed playing with some of us!
