Welcome 2022!

Science: We have been learning about animals in winter.  

 





















We learned about why bears hibernate, made sleeping bears and played a game to fill our bear's bellies before hibernating.
 








Math was incorporated by measuring the heights of different penguins and comparing them:

This week we will learn how polar animals keep warm in the cold.

Writing: we have kicked off a new unit on opinion writing.  We are learning how to state an opinion, support it with reasons and write a concluding sentence.

Here are our steps so far:

Each child filled out a planning sheet with the reasons why they chose a particular item.  We are using these to write our first opinion pieces.  Examples to come in the next few weeks.

Learning about Australia

Our classmate will be traveling to Australia to spend precious time with family next month.  We will have lots of books about Australia in our room and look forward to learning more about Australia when she returns. Safe travels!!
