Last Week of our Sound and Light Unit

This week's blog post will be all about our final week of our Light Unit.   Next week we will immerse ourselves in "Opinion Writing."  More on that to come!

Before the break we learned how to create shadows and tested what happened when we shined a beam of light on different materials.  This week we our first question was...

How can we redirect a beam of light?

What can we see with a mirror?

Rear view mirror game!

Drawing one eye as we see it in the mirror.

What can be seen with no light?
We used "no light boxes".
With a flashlight we discovered we could shine just enough light in through the translucent tape and/or the cracks in the box to be able to see inside!

Putting it all together for a challenge....
can you redirect a beam of light onto a block to using 2 mirrors ?

Three mirrors?

Some even successfully used four mirrors!
Then scientists recorded their work in their journals.

The effort they put into this science challenge is a perfect example of a "4" effort .  Here are some examples of individual effort charts that kids made during our weekly time with Mrs. Brady.  Everyone brought theirs home this Friday.

Our new Sharing Theme is "Family Traditions".  Here are a few of the traditions shared so far...
