Non fiction reading unit kick off!

Our mentor text for this unit of study:

Our key learning points from this past week:

We started off reading different forms of non fiction

Then studied pennies...

and are now reading Gail Gibbons books.

In writing we are working to make sure someone else can read our writing.
We first read it our selves checking for spelling, punctuation, capitalization and neatness.  Then a partner reads it and makes suggestions to make it even better.

In math we are practicing telling time to the hour, half hour and quarter.
We are learning to relationship between halves and doubles.
We are practicing our make ten facts.
We are working hard to solve story problems too.

During our Second Step work this past week we continued to focus on respect-how can we be our best learners.  Our next focus is on focusing your attention and listening.  These help us be our best learners and are ways to show respect at school. You can play Sentence Switcheroo with your family at home.  Here are the directions:

Our read aloud is really exciting!  Ask you child what is happening with Twig and Char.
