We watched this Kid President Video about the life of Martin Luther King Jr and listened to the song "What Could One Little Person Do? " before thinking what we could do to make the world a better place.

After, we reflected and write about one time we needed help.
Our new writing unit is Opinion Writing.
First we worked to understand the difference between a fact and opinion.
Next we shared our opinions verbally and learned how to agree and disagree politely.
For this we watched a fun National Geographic video of cats vs dogs then shared our opinion about which is the best pet practicing how to disagree politely.
Then it was time to start writing! Our mentor text for this unit is this awesome book:

Now we are moving on to choosing a favorite item from a collection and writing why we like it best.
