This week we said good bye to Miss Molly and Miss Elizabeth from UVM.
They will be amazing teachers!!
They did a fun animal habitat activity with the class before the break.

We surprised them with thank you cards.
We read this beautiful book and created these mosaics in celebration of Arab American Heritage Month.
This week we listened to The Proudest Blue
Then we decorated paper with things that represent us and made origami boats.
May means incubating chicken eggs in first grade!!

Today was Arbor Day. We have a long standing tradition at CCS of having trees donated by Charlie Prout from Horseford's on Arbor Day. Many of the trees on our school campus have been donated by Charlie and planted on previous Arbor Days. Arbor Day happened to coincide with our turn to lead whole school morning meeting. We learned about things we get from trees and made posters.
At our whole morning meeting the first grade started with a fun greeting, taught the school 4 fun Arbor Day facts, read a tree poem and shared their posters. We challenged the school to solve a couple of tree riddles before sharing that this year's tree is a Bur Oak. Charlie shared a few fun facts with the school about the Bur Oak before we wrapped up. First grade kids did an AMAZING job!! Michelle and I were too busy to get photos but here are a few taken from the audience.
