Fun in First Grade

This week we had a relocation safety drill.  The students and staff came together and did an outstanding job.  I was very proud of our class!  Here they are the Congregational Church waiting for directions.

We had our monthly Whole School Morning Meeting this week too.  The theme was try!  Taking risks at school to learn new things is important.

And we had four friends lead the school in the pledge!

The CCS Jazz Band performed a few songs for us.

This week in science our focus was on how vibrations-sound waves- can travel though different materials.

After experimenting with the spoon gong system, students were asked how can we use these materials to communicate over longer distances-a string cup telephone!

We discovered that sound travelled through the string best when the string was pulled tight.

Four Winds this month was all about birds-who migrates and who stays here in the winter.

Outside we became birds for two different activities!
