Learning about Light and More

We have started to learn about light in science.  Our big ideas this week were...

What makes a shadow?
When on object is placed in the path of light, the object blocks the light and creates a shadow.

How can we use the sun to create shadows?
Place an object in the path of the sunlight and it blocks the light creating a shadow.
We did many different shadow challenges!

What happens when different materials block light?

During our weekly morning meeting with Mrs. Brady we are fine tuning our understanding of effort. The class had a very powerful conversation about this chart.  When we start activities we might start at one step and then jump forwards and backwards before we get to the top.  The children are making their own "effort posters".  More on those next time!

During our last You Skills session with Mrs. Nelson we learned about the "zones of regulation".  You can use these at home too!

Some fifth grade students came to read us their "Turkey Tales". These writers made up stories about how a turkey gets away from farmer on Thanksgiving.  Mrs. Muroski said the fifth graders were impressed by the questions and comments our students made.  And I love having former students come back to share their work!

Thankful Turkeys!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
Thanks for your support!
