We kicked the week off with our first whole school meeting!
In reading this week we reviewed important strategies and work habits from first grade.
During Word Study we are also refreshing our spelling skills!
Here are some of the skills we have reviewed so far:

We are also practicing spelling our "snap words". These are the list of "trick words" that are linked to the blog on the left hand side. These are words that kids need to memorize. They need to be able to read and spell them in a snap-hence why we changed the term to snap words! Please practice these with your child at home.
Learning to spell our full names and the names of family members is fun!
In math this past week we continued working on establishing new routines and work habits.

Personal Narrative Small Moment Stories
These books will be our mentor texts. They are excellent examples to use to learn how to zoom in on a small, meaningful moments. We will also study them to learn how to stretch out stories and write with details.
We end almost every day we end with a new Ending Circle. You only speak when you have the "talking stone".
Some of the questions we have answered:What is one thing that makes you happy?
What is one thing that makes you sad?
When you are sad what makes you feel better?
What does respect mean?
What is one thing our class did to earn a penny this week?
