Always revising while we write paying attention to line breaks to make our poems sound musical

We spent a couple of days learning how to revise and edit poems.
They practiced with poems I wrote then worked on their own.

On Friday they chose an edited poem or two to rewrite and illustrate-here are their published poems!

During reading we continue to focus on fluency.

We also are paying attention to the language in books
Here are the examples they found:

Four Winds was on skulls-they loved it!

We attended a great concert by the fifth and sixth graders.

During WIN time, one group challenged Mrs. Sumner in a Word Study round of $20,000 Pyramid!

This week we read a short chapter book by Kate DiCamillo called Where Are You Going, Baby Lincoln.  The class made some great connections about the messages of these four books we have read this year.  Ask your child how they are the same!  (they are all about a journey and finding one's true self)
