Welcome Back!

In math we are delving into a measurement unit.  We started measuring items using a "teacher's foot".

Then we used a "giant's foot".

We are also learning about data collection and graphing.

We began a science unit on States of Matter.  Here are the two essential questions we tackled this week:

Students wrote riddles based on properties of an object and then tried to solve them.

In poetry we worked on learning how to revise our poems.
We practiced by finding words in a poem I wrote that they thought could be more precise.  With their writing partner/partners, they made a mental list of alternatives and then chose one that was a better.

Then they tried it in their own poems.  This is really hard!

Our new read aloud, another book by Kate DiCamillo:

This is a powerful book!!  Ask your child about what has happened to Edward each week.
