We think we have frog eggs. We came together as a team to draw them and a few have since hatched. They look a little different than I remember from 2 years ago. Who knows what will happen!
Plant Unit-What is the job of the stem?
Results...
Experimenting a little more with the carnations and colored water for fun!
Nonfiction reading and note taking on plants:
More planting-grass seed and nasturtium.
Math-we wrote story problems and then solved each other's!
Fairy Tale Unit:
Cinderella from Mexico:
We watched videos about Mexico. We often stopped and shared what we were learning with a shoulder partner.
We also read a nonfiction article and highlighted important information.
Another day we recorded facts and colored the flag.
But of course the funnest was the Mexican Hat Dance!
This week our second graders heard different versions of "The Three Little Pigs"
First, the classic-we followed up by making cute finger puppets.
Then the story told from the point of view of the wolf.
Whose story do you believe?
After, they made "wanted" posters.
We followed up with an engineering challenge...can you and your group design a house of straw or sticks that would not blow down?
We broke up into small groups. They made a plan, decided on jobs and got to work.
Each house was tested with a fan and they all withstood the wolf's huffing and puffing:)
